Biography of Dr. Yaping Dai

Dr. Dai Yaping graduated from Beijing Institute of Technology in 1994 with a doctoral degree in engineering and stayed on as a lecture in the same year. Promoted to associate professor in 1997, and received funding from the China Scholarship Council in 1998 to serve as a visiting scholar at Kyushu University in Japan for one year. Became professor in 2002. In 2005, she received funding from the China Scholarship Council and went to Tokyo Institute of Technology as a visiting scholar for six months. She also established the "3+2" and "4+2" programs for international students with the Graduate School of Information Production and Systems at Waseda University. In 2010, she received funding support from the 985 Foreign Experts Program and visited the University of Virginia in the United States as a visiting scholar for three months; In 2011, she set up the Joint Laboratory for Remote Control Education and Scientific Research with Tokyo Institute of Technology. In 2012, she received funding support from the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) in Australia and served as a senior visiting scholar at UTS for one month. In 2015, she established a "Intelligent (Emotional) Computing" team with Prof. Kaoru Hirota at the School of Automation, Beijing Institute of Technology. And she was retired from Beijing Institute of Technology at January 2024, and get the new job from BIT as contract hiring professor now on.
Her main research majors are :
1. Intelligent human-machine interaction algorithm for service-oriented robots.
2. Multi sensor data fusion theory and application.
3. Deep learning methods in image recognition, tracking and analysis.
4. Smart classroom—— teaching quality evaluation via AI.
