abstract
In this talk, I introduce the studies related to assisting
international communication through information technology. These
studies involve the two areas of computer-assisted language learning
and machine translation, based on the technologies of natural language
processing, computer-human interaction, and machine learning. After
briefly referring to communication theory as the background underlying
this domain, I overview the state of the art by referring to some of
my previous achievements.
